Common Names:- None

Homotypic Synonyms:- Chamaenerion angustissimum, Chamaenerion
dodonaei, Epilobium. rosmarinifolium

Meaning:- Epilobium (L) A name used by Gesner the Swiss physician and
naturalist. to indicate the position of the corolla above the ovary.
                  Dodonaei (L) The specific epithet is derived from R. Dodoens, author
of Stirpium Historiae Pemptades (1583)

General description:- Rhizomatous, subglabrous perennial,

Stems:-
1) 20-110 cm, erect, branched, crispate-puberulent.

Leaves:-
1) 2-2·5 × 0·1-0·35 cm. linear, strigulose, crispate-puberulent.
3) Lateral veins, obscure.

Flowers:-
1) Few, in a lax, compound raceme.
2) Flower-buds, ± erect; slightly nodding just before anthesis.
3) Style, 7-15 mm, at first deflexed but later erect after the anthers have dehisced.

Fruit:-
1) Seeds, 1·5-2 mm, papillose.

Key features:-
1) Leaves strigulose, at least along the veins and on the margins.
2) Seeds, finely papillose
3) Style, 7-15 mm, becoming erect after anthers have dehisced.

Habitat:- On the Greek mainland generally on rocky slopes, embankments of
forest roads, in gravel by streams, etc., (100)500-1400(-1900) m.

Distribution:- Fairly common in NW Greece and scattered eastwards to nom.
Dramas and southwards to N Peloponnisos. Previously unrecorded from Crete,
discovered by Giorgos Palimetakis on the Lefka Ori August 2022,

Flowering time:- Late June to early Oct.
